I created this portfolio to share my professional and creative work as an educator, public speaker and scholar. I spent more than 25 years in local and network news as an award-winning broadcast journalist. Now life has come full circle, as I have returned to the very classroom at Howard University where I was nurtured and mentored. My career is a calling that has opened a plethora of opportunities and experiences including public speaking and media consulting. I hope you get a glimpse into why I love what I've been called to do.
My published research and creative work interests include the dissection of current practices and pedagogies in journalism, the transition from professional to professor, and the complex facets of women, media, and images.
I have been featured in global and national media, and produce stories and programs which contribute to the national conversation on the complex issues of politics, the press, and race and culture.
My public speaking and consulting opportunities are grounded in the belief that Journalists are the Defenders of Democracy, Freedom Fighters of the First Amendment, and Savvy and Sophisticated Storytellers.

I want to obviously thank you for all of the skills you instilled in me. Thank you for the constant care throughout my time at Howard. There are not many professors who truly pay attention to the details with each of their students and you definitely did.

I just wanted to let you know because your class truly helped me when it came to reporting and being a versatile journalist! I’ve been hired as an evening writer! Thanks for everything, especially pushing me to grow outside of my comfort zone!

I just wanted to thank you again for everything you’ve done for me. You have been the most influential instructor to me since I stepped foot at HU! If I really make it, I’m going to repay you in such an incredible way because you deserve it!
